Do pickup trucks and heavy-duty vehicles need smog in California?
Gasoline and diesel pickup trucks at or under 14,000 lbs GVWR require California smog inspection on the same biennial cycle as passenger cars. Vehicles over 14,000 lbs GVWR are regulated separately by CARB's heavy-duty truck inspection program.
Most consumer pickup trucks (F-150, Silverado 1500, Ram 1500, Tacoma, Tundra) fall well under the 14,000 lb cutoff and require standard smog
